Voting for Your Favorite Non-Profit
In conjunction with SkyLine’s 60th year celebration in 2011, the cooperative is presenting a total of $6,000 in donations to area charitable organizations. These organizations were selected based on the number of votes they received by members and customers who visited the co-op’s commemorative website and cast their votes.
In Johnson County, the Cranberry Festival Scholarship Fund received a donation of $1,000 for having the most votes submitted. Pictured at left is Richard Price, Principal of Shady Valley Elementary School and a member of the Cranberry Festival Scholarship Fund Committee, with Olan Bentley, who represents Johnson County on SkyLine’s Board of Directors.
In Watauga County, the Mountaineer Ruritan Club received a donation of $1,000 for having the most votes submitted. Pictured (left to right) are: Mr. Ray Ward, a member of the SkyLine Board of Directors representing Watauga County, Mountaineer Ruritan Club President Allen Shelton, and Joe McNeil, a member of the SkyLine Board of Directors who also represents Watauga County.
In Alleghany County, the Alleghany Pregnancy Care Center received a donation of $1,000 the most votes in that county and an additional $1,000 for having the most votes overall among the organizations nominated from the five counties that SkyLine serves. In Avery County, the Greater Banner Elk Heritage Foundation received a donation of $1,000 for having the most votes submitted.
